Preparing for SMOD Installation

Before installing SMOD, you will need the following:

Resources you need before installing SMOD

• An Active Directory domain
• A Microsoft Windows IIS server (where SMOD will be installed)
• IIS Server should be able to communicate with at least one Active Directory domain controller in write mode

Information you need before installing SMOD

• Local administrator account on IIS server
• A domain account that has ability to edit user accounts (account that is part of Domain Admins or Account Operators will work)  
• An Active Directory group that will be used to administer SMOD (by default, this will be the local Administrators group in the domain)

• The web site that will be used to host the SMOD virtual directory.  By default this will be the default web site on the IIS server

Pre-requisites on the SMOD Server:

Before installing SMOD,

• Ensure IIS and/or the web server role on the IIS Server is installed
• Note: On IIS7 and Windows 2008 Server, the IIS role service "IIS 6 Metabase Compatibility" must be installed before running setup.  Please see instructions on installing IIS 6 Metabase Compatibility
• Install .NET Framework 3.5 or higher (best practice is to install the latest version)
• ASP.NET should be allowed.  See here for more details TBD
